Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures is a lively, animated children's series available on Disney+. Set in the High Republic era, centuries before the Skywalker Saga, it's also one of the first and only Star Wars shows aimed at preschoolers. It's designed to introduce younger audiences to the galaxy far, far away in a fun, age-appropriate way.

Maybe it's Disney's attempt to snag the next generation of fans at a young age, locking them in for a lifetime of Star Wars entertainment, but as a parent of a two-year-old, I'm not complaining. I've sat through my fair share of children's shows, and Young Jedi Adventures is among the best of them. Besides, who wants to watch Cocomelon or Ms. Rachel for the hundredth time?

And if you don't know what those are...just wait.

Young Jedi Adventures is a light, positive, and morally driven children's cartoon with a heavy focus on friendship, helping others, and solving problems using the Jedi way. It follows the main character Kai Brightstar, along with his friends Lys Solay and Nubs, as these younglings set out on constant, light-hearted adventures. There's the occasional intervention of Master Yoda to drop in some sage Jedi wisdom and pull them out of a tight spot, but the primary focus is on the younglings.

Overall, it's a great way to introduce your own younglings to Star Wars without the violence and darker storylines of the main movies.

Last year, the series expanded into the comic book world on Free Comic Book Day 2024 and again in 2025. Not only did this provide an awesome opportunity for young readers to get their first introduction to the Jedi—and Star Wars as a whole—but it gave us parents a different nighttime read besides Goodnight Moon.

I can only tell the moon goodnight so many times...

Penguin Random House Comics has compiled the two previously released Young Jedi Adventures comics and added a brand new story set on Kashyyyk to create an all-in-one hardcover collection that's sure to entertain. As they say on their site:

"Follow Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay, and Nubs as they set off on missions across the galaxy to learn the ways of the Force! Aboard the Crimson Firehawk — piloted by their friend, Nash Durango, and her trusty droid companion RJ-83 — the younglings seek out new missions and challenges that require their Jedi skills!

In this volume, Kai, Lys, and Nubs race Wookiees to climb the tallest trees on Kashyyyk; Nubs and Jedi padawan Qort rush to rescue a Republic ship from disaster; and the younglings go on a scavenger hunt in a stinky swamp full of monsters!"

Look for it December 9, 2025!
