An all new Disney Channel promo for Star Wars: The Force Awakens may hint at the parentage, or familial ties to Rey’s family. Watch the clip, titled “Destiny.”

More from Dork Side of the Force

Sunday seemed to be the perfect day for Disney/Lucasfilm to pour on the new clips from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In this clip, we have the Disney Channel talking about destiny and what it means to have the Force as the mystical energy that binds the galaxy together. It almost feels like Disney is trying to educate younger viewers about Star Wars, as the clip does show scenes from the Original Trilogy. And, that would most certainly make sense. It’s been ten years since the last live-action Star Wars film, and many of the younger generation may not be as familiar with the franchise as you or I.

Let’s .GIF some of those new scenes, shall we? Oh, and apologies for the watermark in the center of the video, apparently CBR Trailers think they own Disney footage…go figure. First we have a shot of BB-8 rolling past some of the rougher types in Maz Kanata’s castle. Maz Kanata is played by Lupita Nyong’o in a mocap role.

Next we have Rey piloting the Falcon through the obstacles of Jakku, to avoid the TIE Fighters from the First Order.

Here’s a shot of Maz Kanata herself, watching Finn ignite the long-lost lightsaber of Luke Skywalker.

Of course, we have to show Finn and the First Order Trooper fighting, because it is just too damned cool not to.

More of Rey escaping Jakku aboard the Falcon.

And finally, we have the most feels inducing scene you will see. Leia looking oddly approving at Rey, who seems to be wearing new clothes, and who also returns the smile. Are we getting a hint about her parentage here?

I told you, I was not prepared to feel these feels. With only ten days away from the worldwide theatrical debut of Star Wars: The Force Awakens on December 17 and 18, scenes like this only make me all the more excited to watch the film.
