Nien Nunb is all but confirmed to be returning to Star Wars in Episode VIII, along with two other classic trilogy characters.

We love to watch our favorite characters on-screen, even the smaller, yet no less recognizable ones. So when I saw Nien Nunb (Mike Quinn) in The Force Awakens, I got a little excited. I remember watching him in Return of the Jedi, in which he was the co-pilot to Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams). In that movie, Nunb and Calrissian delivered the final blow and took out the Second Death Star. In Star Wars: Episode VII Nunb helps blow up Starkiller Base in his own X-wing. Recently, multiple sources have all but confirmed the Sullustan will make a return in Star Wars: Episode VIII.

The news doesn’t stop there, however, as now we have learned that not only will Nunb return, but also Admiral Ackbar (Tim Rose) and of course, Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew).

More from Dork Side of the Force

On February 3rd, the Facebook account for Pensacon reported Rose and Mayhew, who were slated to make guest appearances at the convention in Florida later this month, had pulled out to report on a project they both were working on together. Yesterday, Pensacon posted the following update about another promised Star Wars guest, Quinn: “So, more bad news this morning. Mike Quinn has to cancel his appearance as well. A certain movie is calling…”

According to MovieWeb “Star Wars: Episode VIII will start shooting this month, and it sounds like things will be up and running by February 19, which is the first day of this convention.” The article went on to explain that the scenes featuring “Admiral Ackbar, Nein Nunb, and Chewbacca are being shot first. But it isn’t known how important they are to the overall story.”
