The time is upon us, Disney is now sending out casting calls for Star Wars: Rogue One, and I for one am looking into developing an English accent…I kid, I kid. But seriously, through the website Moviecastingcall.org, the announcement has been sent, that Disney is ready to cast you, if you fit their desired role, and they have generously provided the proper information for anyone willing to try-out for the movie.
“For over a thousand generations the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic. Before the dark times. Before the Empire.“
Star Wars: Rogue One will take place between Episodes III and IV, and will be part of the newly announced Star Wars Anthology. Rogue One will center around a group of resistance fighters led by the famous Rogue Squadron. United to steal the Death Star plans, the resistance will try to bring a new hope to the Old Republic.
Too bad Rogue One is about stealing the first Death Star’s plans, because I was really hoping to see some Bothans…you know, since Many Bothans died to bring us this information.
The casting call specifically mentions London Child Actors, which may mean there will be children in the movie. The only confirmed actress in the movie is Felicity Jones, and she is only listed as “Rebel Soldier” so she may not be part of Rogue Squadron.
Of note, this casting seems to be for main characters with some type of significant screen time, as the announcement mentions there will be a separate extras casting, later.
Star Wars: Rogue One is being written by Chris Weitz (Cinderella), directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla), and will star Academy Award Nominee Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything). Rogue One is set to hit theaters sometime in 2016.
UPDATE: Since the publishing of this article, it has been brought to our attention that this casting call may not be legit. We have had no official word from Disney or Lucasfilm to support this claim, but if and when we do, we will let you know. Thank you.
