Star Wars: Battlefront Weapon and Vehicle Updates
By Kyle Warnke
Anticipation is high for Star Wars: Battlefront even as details have been scarce, but we’re starting to get a fuller picture of just what players will be capable of in the game.
And although they won’t be able to play Han Solo, they will be able to shoot from the hip just like him.
The game’s developers, DICE, have confirmed that there will be no ironsights in the game. According to executive producer Patrick Bach, who was quoted in Official Xbox Magazine (via GamesRadar):
"“There are no ironsights in Star Wars, on the ordinary blasters. You have scopes on some rifles, but there are no ironsights.”"
Ironsights, for you more casual gamers out there, are a function of gameplay that allow you to stare directly down the barrel of your gun, increasing your accuracy. Here’s a screenshot from one of DICE’s Battlefield games, which featured ironsights:
Perhaps DICE wants us to feel more like Imperial stormtroopers by taking away an aspect of gaming that improves your shooting. But Bach had a different reason, saying that they don’t want to repeat what they’ve done before and they want Battlefront to be “something completely unique.”
In other news, EA has confirmed that players will get to pilot Imperial AT-ST Walkers. Hopefully, you’ll be a better pilot than Chewbacca was:
Battlefront has already been confirmed to feature a host of playable iconic vehicles, including TIE Fighters, X-Wings, and AT-ATs, so this isn’t that surprising.
When it comes to characters, we only know that Boba Fett and Darth Vader will be playable, but EA has hinted that more roles will be made available. The game will have at least 12 multiplayer maps when it launches on Nov. 17, with up to 40 players per map.

The game will be available for Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC.
