We’ve already confirmed that Star Wars: Battlefront will feature vehicles like speeder bikes and AT-STs, but now we know that players will also be able to pilot the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy.
The Millennium Falcon has been confirmed to be a playable vehicle in the game, thanks to a Reddit Q&A hosted by DICE Community Manager Matthew Everett.
Everett also let slip another piece of information: Snowspeeders will also be an option for players.
Other than that, Everett remained tightlipped about other details, although he did say that the vehicles will be “padawan-friendly” and easier to fly than the aircraft in Battlefield, DICE’s popular war games series.
It’s important to remind fans that the developers have said there will be no space battles in the game, as they want to keep all the action confined to a single location. Although it’s still unclear exactly how the vehicles will be incorporated into gameplay, it should be interesting if players can pick and choose which aircraft they can match up. Will the Falcon be available on Hoth, for instance? Could we take on an Imperial Walker with our favorite piece of space junk?
Still no word yet on whether we’ll be able to do the Kessel Run, though.
Battlefront will not have a main campaign, but rather focus on recreating the iconic battles from the original trilogy, including scenes from the Battle of Hoth and the Battle of Endor. You can play the missions sol or with another player in split-screen or co-op mode. Online multiplayer sessions can host up to 40 players.
