As we slowly crawl ever closer to the December 18th premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, rumors and supposed leaks about the film’s plot, character reveals, and pictures/concept art have begun to flood the internet. Today’s piece of leaked information, comes in the form of a 4chan user, aptly named Anonymous. Mr./Mrs. Anonymous claims to have had the basic synopsis for Episode VII just magically appear on their desk.
"“When a ruthless prince rises to power and threatens galactic peace, a runaway soldier, an uncongenial scavenger, and a hot shot pilot find their fates intertwined as they embark on a journey to find the most powerful warrior in the galaxy.”"
At first glance, this synopsis seems to be at the very least partially legit, but then again, anyone who has been watching the rumor sites, would have a basic understanding of what the film may be about. Also, there’s the whole 4chan thing. The site is an infamous hideout for internet trolls and scumbag hackers, who’s sole purpose in life is to make other people’s lives miserable…just ask EA about their experience with 4chan. It’s safe to say that 4chan is the Mos Eisley of the internet, You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.
However, for the purposes of this article, let’s at least pretend that this is an actual legitimate leaked synopsis, and break the information provided, down. The ruthless prince is an obvious description of The Force Awakens‘ Sith character, Kylo Ren…but why call him a prince? Are we to infer that Kylo Ren is the son of Princess Leia and Han Solo?
The runaway soldier is clearly Finn, the scavenger is Rey, and the hot-shot pilot is Poe Dameron. But who are they searching for, if they are looking for the most powerful warrior in the galaxy? Luke Skywalker is now a Jedi Master, and has likely honed his skills in the ways of the Force, in the past 30 years since the Battle for Endor, but does that make him the most powerful warrior in the galaxy?
Perhaps the supposed synopsis is describing Andy Serkis’ character, whom we now know is named Supreme Leader Snoke. Is Snoke a powerful Sith Lord? Is he the one pulling the strings from behind the scenes?
The only thing we can say for sure, is that none of this can be confirmed until December 18, or unless J.J. Abrams suddenly decides to drop that bit of information on us…which would be completely and terribly out of character for him.
