Boba Fett Confirmed for Disney Infinity 3.0 in New Trailer

Sony and Disney are teaming up to offer some exclusive features for the upcoming toy-based video game Disney Infinity 3.0. And to help sell the deal, they’ve given the most feared bounty hunter in the galaxy a new contract.

At the E3 convention in Los Angeles, Sony announced a special deal for PlayStation 3 and Playstation 4 owners looking to buy the upcoming game, in which players purchase real-life toy figures and upload them into the game world as playable characters.

Disney Infinity 3.0 will have two sets of playable characters and environments: Star Wars: Twilight of the Republic and Star Wars: Rise of the Empire. The former will feature characters, sets, props, etc. based off of the prequels, while the latter will focus on the original trilogy.

But if you’re a PlayStation owner, you can buy a special edition Starter Pack for the game that includes Twilight of the Republic, Rise Against the Empire and yes, a Boba Fett figure.

Sony executives noted that this deal allows players to purchase Rise Against the Empire nearly a month before its release, which hasn’t been announced yet. It’s unclear if this also unlocks Twilight of the Republic earlier than scheduled. The special edition costs $114.99 and will come out the same day as the general release for the game.

It also comes with several other figures such as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker, along with a code to access extra content on mobile and PC platforms.

It’s likely that the Boba Fett figure will eventually become available for all platforms eventually. This deal just allows Sony customers to get these features earlier than other gamers.

As you can see above, there’s also a new trailer for the Rise Against the Empire playset, showcasing some of the levels and characters, with a tag at the end showing off the cartoon Boba Fett.

I’m actually digging Boba Fett’s adapted appearance for the game, which stays true to the character’s iconic armor look but not making him look too silly.

It’ll be interesting to see if any other exclusive sets are announced before Disney Infinity 3.0 becomes available this fall. Disney could release more supplementary characters from the two trilogies.

It’s also been announced that there will be a playset based on the sequel trilogy, although the company has been pretty mum so far on what’s in store for that expansion.

Either way, nobody’s better at collecting a reward than Boba Fett. Smart move, Sony.
