High-end geek fashion will return to the runway at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, with The Her Universe Fashion Show!

The female geek fashion company, pioneered by the voice actor behind The Clone Wars‘ Ahsoka Tano, Ashley Eckstein, debuted the runway show last year that featured thirty-six designs selected from fan submissions. The winners from last year, Amy Beth Christenson and Andrew MacLaine, were given the opportunity to help design a line of Marvel comics-inspired clothing with Hot Topic.

This year, twenty-five finalists will see their fashion ensembles walk the Her Universe runway beginning at 6 pm Pacific on July 9th, at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Diego, CA.

Ashley sounded ecstatic for the event in the press release.

"“We are so excited to return to San Diego Comic-Con with The Her Universe Fashion Show. Geek Fashion is a trend that’s not going away and once again we can’t wait to celebrate Fangirl Fashion on the runway. You will not want to miss the stunning pieces created by this year’s designers and the audience will participate by picking one of the winners!”"

As Ashley said, one winner will be determined by the opinions of the audience, while the other will be chosen by a panel of judges. Ashley will judge as well as walk the runway in “geek couture” fashions designed especially for her by the audience-selected winner of last year’s show, Andrew MacLaine. Take a sneak peek at those fashions below!

Ashley will be joined on the judging panel by several guests, including, “Hot Topic’s SVP of Merchandising and Marketing, Cindy Levitt; singer/songwriter, voice actress and designer, Traci Hines; Manager of Licensing and Merchandising at Sony Pictures Television, Jessica Nubel; and winners from last year’s fashion show, Amy Beth Christenson and Andrew MacLaine.”

Audience members are encouraged to create and wear their own geeky designs to the fashion show, “for a chance to be recognized and win prizes.”

As a fangirl myself, I’m very happy to see enthusiastic and nerdy people like Ashley Eckstein put together something that is all about a very central part of many girls’ (and guys’!) lives: fashion. Fashion is one of the easiest ways to express your passion for your fandom, whether that’s accomplished by wearing a casual tee or a stunning runway gown. It’s just another way for fans to get more involved in the things they love, as well as show that there are just as many fangirls as there are fanboys.
