Ronda Rousey Talks The Force Awakens and if She’s Jedi or Sith

Our mothership at Fansided, is running an interview with undefeated MMA Champion Ronda Rousey, and in that interview, we learned that she is a huge Star Wars fan. How huge you may ask? Well, Rousey explains that while she wants to go into Star Wars: The Force Awakens — which premieres worldwide on December 17 and 18 — with no spoilers whatsoever, she does want there to be a female Jedi…badly.

"“I so desperately want there to be a girl Jedi and I don’t want to be sitting around wondering if that is going to happen. I don’t want to be sitting there wondering if she is going to show up and have that take away from my overall experience. I want to know as little about the story as possible and be exposed to everything for the first time when I sit down to watch it.”"

Rousey is referring to the fact that she knew everything there was to know, going into the Prequel Trilogy. She admits to looking up all the information she could get her hands on, which only endears her to myself and about a million other nerds who love Star Wars. Fansided asked the champ if she could choose, would she go with the Light Side of the Force, or the Dark:

"“Honestly my personality is much more Sith, but the Jedi is more glamorous. First of all, the Jedi are supposed to be celebrate and the Sith can pretty much do whatever the hell they want. I’m not really a defensive type of fighter either. I’m an aggressive one so I think I’d be Sith all the way even though I think the Jedi have much prettier light sabers.”"

The Jedi have prettier lightsabers? Ronda, allow me to introduce you to Darth Revan and his purple saber. Speaking of Revan, Rousey does admit she wouldn’t want to choose, and that she would end up landing in the grey area…which is exactly what Revan ended up being, once he was redeemed from the Dark Side of the Force.

"“If I could have a purple lightsaber and combine the red and the blue that’s where I’d want to be. I’m nice most of the time but I can get Sithy if you f*** with me. I don’t want to be so disciplined like the Jedi are and I don’t want to be so mean and killing Padawans like the Sith. Isn’t there a middle ground where I could be chill and awesome but at the same time people know not to f*** with me?”"

I have a feeling that Ronda Rousey would make quite the imposing Grey Jedi, or if she were so inclined, a ruthless Sith Lord. In fact, I think it’s time we started a petition to get Ronda Rousey in the next Star Wars film. Maybe she could be one of Luke Skywalker’s new recruits…or maybe she could be a disciple of Supreme Leader Snoke and the Knights of Ren…the opportunities are endless.
