5. Is Kylo Ren related to anyone we know?

Another popular theory regarding potential relatives of the Big Three is the one which says Kylo Ren is the son of Han Solo and Princess Leia; which, if the theory Rey is their daughter is true, would make Kylo and Rey siblings. Harrison Ford had something to say in the Twitter Awakens Q&A which might lend credence to this theory, but it’s still a mystery for those of us who haven’t seen the movie yet.

It makes sense, though, that Kylo would be significant in some way other than just being a big bad villain, just like his idol, Darth Vader, who set the bar high for villains with pathos and depth. Making him the child of Han and Leia, or even Luke, would also immediately up the stakes for everyone involved (including fans, I might add).

However, Darth Maul wasn’t related to anyone in the films, and he became one of the biggest pop culture icons in the Star Wars franchise. Kylo Ren doesn’t need to be related to anyone to make a splash…but we hope he is, anyway.
