The best fighter pilot in the Resistance is about to get his own comic book series, starting in April. Poe Dameron from Marvel Star Wars…

More from Dork Side of the Force

USA Today got the exclusive scoop on Poe Dameron comic series from Marvel Star Wars, which will see Oscar Isaac’s charismatic character from Star Wars: The Force Awakens in his own Marvel Comics series. Starting in April of this year, with the Star Wars: Poe Dameron #1, written by Charles Soule (Star Wars: Lando) and drawn by Phil Noto (Star Wars:Chewbacca). Soule had this to say:

"“Poe’s one of the breakout characters of the biggest movie of all time “so to see people reacting to him so strongly now just feels like we’re hopefully in a great position.”"

He’s absolutely right, Poe Dameron was the under-the-radar favorite for many fans of The Force Awakens, so it makes sense to see him in his own headlining comic series. It also makes sense from a story perspective, as we found out about Poe’s parents through the comic series Shattered Empire. The series starred Poe’s Rebel Alliance parents, Shara Bey (an A-Wing pilot) and Kes Dameron (a soldier), in stories that took place in the aftermath of Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.

According to Charles Soule (writer of the series) Poe Dameron will be an ongoing title and it will include everyone’s favorite new astromech, BB-8.

Neat, now we will get to see what Poe and BB-8 were up to, before the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens…and beyond. Look for Poe Dameron #1 in April, later this year.
