Entertainment Weekly has just released an exclusive trailer for Star Wars: Rebels Season 2B which includes Sith Temples, Yoda, an old Darth Maul, Jedi Temple Guardians, Ahsoka facing the spectre of Anakin Skywalker, and a green lightsaber just like Kylo Ren’s…
There is really so much to get to, for this article, but let’s watch that trailer really quick, to get our bearings. Feel free to watch as many times as you like, because there is a ton of information to process.

First off, we’ve got Hera’s father Cham Syndulla making an appearance. Cham was a key rebel in the animated The Clone Wars series from which Star Wars: Rebels sprang. Next we have Princess Leia interacting with Ezra. This begs the question of her knowledge of the Jedi, before the events of the Original Trilogy, as she never really acknowledges that she knows who or what the Jedi are, in those films.
Now to the nitty-gritty: Sith Temples, Yoda, and Old Master nee-Darth Maul. That’s right, the old man who told Ezra to call him Old Master seems to be non other than Darth Maul himself. Remember, the Emperor (Darth Sidious) did not kill Maul in The Clone Wars, instead he said that he had something else in mind for his old apprentice…this would see to be that “something else.”
UPDATE: In the now canonical story from Dark Horse Comics, Darth Maul actually escaped Sidious and is now in seclusion after his plans to rule the galaxy died with his mother, Mother Talzin. (Thanks Elaine for keeping me on my toes!)
We also have what appears to be some type of former Jedi Temple guardians, who interact with Kanan, and it looks as though he may be fighting them at some point. Yoda training Ezra is amazing, and Ahsoka interacting with the spectre of Anakin Skywalker. She finally will realize who Darth Vader is.
The coup de grâce of the entire trailer, however, is Ezra igniting a green lightsaber that looks a lot like Kylo Ren’s crossguard saber from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Is Kylo’s saber a relic that used to belong to a Jedi named Ezra? Did Kylo simply replace the green kyber crystal with a cracked red one?
There are a ton of questions to be had with this trailer, and stay tuned to Dork Side of the Force as we will break it down using GIF’s later today.
