Will Darth Vader be in Rogue One? Sources say YES

“Give yourself to the Dark Side. It is the only way you can save your friends.” Darth Vader has been heavily rumored to be in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and today we’ve got some pretty definitive proof…

Star Wars leak site, Making Star Wars, has a bit of news from one of their Bothan sources, stating that the Darth Vader dream team is on set at Rogue One‘s filming stage in Pinewood Studios and ready to begin filming the Sith Lord’s scenes. The dream team consists of the original creator of Darth Vader’s suit from Star Wars: A New Hope — Brian Muir and his handpicked team. Here’s what MSW has to say:

"“By all accounts the costume is so close to the original everyone is very happy and very impressed with the work done by Brian Muir and his team.”"

MSW also adds that legendary actor James Earl Jones has been tasked with returning to the voice that cemented Darth Vader’s menacing look, from Episode IV. As far as when JOnes will record the voice for Vader, word and common sense says that he will do this task post-production.

As far as Darth Vader’s role in Rogue One will be, many rumors have it that he will be a prominent figure as the Rebels must maneuver around the Sith Lord, in order to get the plans for the original Death Star. In the Original Trilogy, David Prowse donned the mantle and mask of Darth Vader, but for Rogue One, there will be a younger, new actor in that role.

MSW does think — and I concur — that Vader will have a much larger role in Rogue One, than originally thought. I mean…you just done assemble the Vader dream team to bring that original suit back to life, only to have him film an obscure scene. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will hit theaters worldwide this December.
