More from Dork Side of the Force

If you’ve not seen Adam Driver in anything besides his role on HBO’s Girls, or as Kylo Ren in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, then you may not know that the actor has quite the funny side. This was evident in his hosting of Saturday Night Live, as Driver did a really great job in each skit he was in.

I had wondered how SNL would tackle Driver’s role in The Force Awakens, and was pleasantly surprised with the Undercover Boss spoof. I particularly enjoyed how Driver channeled Kylo Ren before he went undercover as Matt. The slow and deliberate speech, coupled by that seething anger just waiting to explode, really helped the skit hit the funnier points.

You have to enjoy the lightsaber bit, as if Kylo was undercover simply to see if other people thought he was cool or not. Like how he had an eight pack. The of course, the whole killing the First Order officer’s son and giving him a hilariously bad and cheesy apology card, only to promote and then kill that officer later, was perfect.

Saturday Night Live handled Driver’s role in The Force Awakens, just right. There wasn’t too much — the opening monologue and then the skit — and that made the show that much more enjoyable.
