Gameplay footage of the cancelled Battlefront III game has hit the internet.
A user on Reddit claims to have found a playable prototype of the game rumored to have been in development by Free Radical Design. The company had reached a partnership with Lucasarts in 2006, and was rumored to be working on a new Battlefront game (via GameSpot). In 2008, Free Radical was folded into Crytek UK following financial issues, and subsequently the project was shut down.

The speculation the project in question was in fact a third Battlefront game was confirmed when, after Free Radical’s shutdown, a developer from the company included Battlefront III concept art in his resume (via GameSpot). Over the years, various leaks of gameplay footage have indicated the game was in advanced stages of development when it was canned.
A few days ago, a Reddit user posted the following:
"After a lot of work I managed to get my hands on Star Wars Battlefront III and wanted to share the infamous cancelled game that I’m sure many of you wanted to play. I know not everyone will get the chance to play this immediately, but over time I expect the modding community to be able to change that."

The user went on to say the game build works “on Xbox 360 Development kits, XNA kits, Test kits, and any 360 that can use RGLoader (which makes it be treated like a Development kit) so if your 360 is modded you can get it working via RGLoader.”
He also shared the build title screen, which is the featured image of this article.
Given DICE has basically rebooted the Battlefront franchise, it’s doubtful Battlefront III will be released as anything except perhaps a digital download; but even that’s a longshot, considering someone would have to spend money to complete development on it.
