Two More Names Rumored To Be In the Running For Young Han Solo
By Elaine Tveit
Rumor has it two new actors are in the running for the role of the main character in the upcoming Han Solo standalone.
StarWarsNews.Net fields the rumor that Taron Egerton and Alden Ehrenreich have auditioned for at least the role of young Han Solo; perhaps another role, as well, according to StarWarsNews.Net’s source.

This comes after Variety released a shortlist of potential Han Solo actors which included Scott Eastwood and Miles Teller.
StarWarsNews.Net’s source claims Egerton and Ehrenreich auditioned both separately and together, which means they could each be auditioning for two different roles. There have been lots of these paired tests, and the source thinks it could be because Han Solo is going to have a brother. But that sounds more like speculation than a concrete prediction.

26-year-old Egerton is most well-known for his recent role as the main protagonist in Kingsman: The Secret Service alongside Oscar-winner Colin Firth. Two of his future projects, Kingsman 2 and Robin Hood: Origins are scheduled to premiere in 2017; after that, the slate remains open, so he could conceivably be preparing for a role in the 2018 Han Solo spinoff after the other two films finish production.

Alden Ehrenreich recently appeared in Hail, Caesar!, which also starred George Clooney, Channing Tatum, and Scarlet Johannessen. He also played the main male character in Beautiful Creatures in 2013. He is also 26 years old.

At this point, there are so many names for Han Solo, it’s impossible to know who’s higher up in the running than everybody else. Based on the shortlist, our pick was Scott Eastwood for the role of the young smuggler. In comparing Egerton and Ehrenreich, I personally don’t think either of them look enough like Harrison Ford to do the role justice visually.
