Star Wars: Episode VIII Begins Filming in Dubrovnik: Set Pieces Spotted
With the excitement of the Star Wars cast and crew coming to the grand old city of Dubrovnik, Croatia, photos and reports are beginning to flood in of the first glimpses of set pieces…
Thanks to Star Wars News Net, we have our first glimpses of the set pieces from Star Wars: Episode VIII filming in the great city of Dubrovnik, Croatia. Just a couple of days ago, we told you about the fact that HBO and Game of Thrones had formerly called Dubrovnik its home for scenes involving King’s Landing, and now it would host Star Wars.
Now, according to SWNN, the crew are there in the grand old city, and have been busy setting-up whole sets. Filming is to being two weeks from now, on March 9, and the crew have had their hands full. SWNN points out that a website called Star Wars Dubrovnik, has been chronicling the setting-up.
"“Locals are already seeing some parts of the set being built. There are some support tents set up in two of the filming locations (Old City Port and Trg Oruzja Square), and some parts of the set are being put up on the main streets as well.”"
These photos give nothing away, really…but they do cause some questions. What type of world does this city belong to? Look at the stone work on the front of the shops: Is it recognizable? You can see more photos at SWNN, and SWD.

These photos are quite excitable, and I fully expect loads more, as the year continues, and filming for Star War: Episode VIII plows on. We want to hear from you: What do you think about these photos? What planet do you think the city will belong to? Is it new, or a familiar place? Let us know in the comments and on social media.
