Star Wars: Episode VIII Filming Updates
As we enter the month of April, the Star Wars: Episode VIII filming updates have begun to slow, but today we have a few tasty morsels to whet your appetite…
Our first bit of Star Wars: Episode VIII filming news comes from director Rian Johnson’s Tumblr, where he showed a photo of Maz Kanata (played in mocap by Lupita Nyong’o). The photo clearly proves, once and for all, that our favorite Force wielder — but definitely not a Jedi — Maz Kanata, will be in Episode VIII, in some fashion. Check it out:
You can see in the background, Lupita Nyong’o, going through the motions of preparing to put Maz into action. This is really exciting stuff, and I wonder what adventures the ancient Maz will be getting herself into, in Star Wars: Episode VIII?
Next, we have confirmation of a brand new actor joining the cast of Episode VIII, and he is British comedian Ade Edmondson, who played Eddie in British 90’s sitcom Bottom. Ade landed the part in Star Wars: Episode VIII after impressing director Rian Johnson and executive producer J.J Abrams, according to The Sun.

Finally, Entertainment.ie is reporting that Cork’s English Market will be used for filming scenes for Star Wars: Episode VIII later this year. According to the ste, already, Cork’s Brow Head and Kerry’s Ceann Sibeal have been confirmed as sites for filming.
"“The shoot is rumoured to take place in the final weekend of April, with reports suggesting that traders in the English Market will be compensated for their loss of earnings and may even be used as background extras in the shoot itself. It’s also been speculated that the English Market will be used as the interior scenes for exterior shots that have taken place in Dubrovnik, Croatia.”"
This all sounds very exciting, especially now that we know actor Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) has divulged he will be doing some night shoots, via his Twitter account:
Could Luke be roaming this set looking for his old friend, Lando Calrissian? With Han Solo dead, perhaps the old space pirate may have some valuable information, that might help luke defeat the First Order…you never know.
