Ewan McGregor Forgets His The Force Awakens Line On Talk Show

“These are your first steps, or something.” Ewan McGregor forgot his only line in The Force Awakens on the Graham Norton Show.

You had one line, Ewan. The actor who played Obi Wan Kenobi in the prequel trilogy and provided his character’s voice in Star Wars: The Force Awakens forgot his only line in Episode VII. Watch the hilarity below.

While Ewan forgot his line, and even what part of The Force Awakens it was for, he didn’t forget how his Obi Wan predecessor, Sir Alec Guinness, was able to lend his voice to Rey’s vision despite having passed away in 2000. The team at Lucasfilm found a piece of Guinness dialogue in which he says the word “afraid,” cut off the “af-” and “-d” parts, and suddenly had a sound bit of the late actor saying “Rey?” for the new movie.

Let’s be honest, it’s easy to forget such a small line. That’s why we think Ewan McGregor needs a bigger role in upcoming Star Wars films. Whether it’s as a Force ghost in Episode VIII, or the titular character of his own spinoff movie, we need young Obi Wan back on the big screen. He was one of the best actors in the prequels and continues to charm the socks off fans whenever he talks about wanting to reprise his role. During one such recent discussion, McGregor said that he wasn’t sure if he was “at liberty to say” if Lucasfilm had approached him about donning the Jedi robe again or not. We’re hoping that’s a hint that things are developing so McGregor can come back to the franchise for more than recording single line of dialogue just a few weeks before the film is set to hit theaters.
