The Royal Family visited Pinewood Studios in London last week and according to a recent report, Princes William and Harry filmed cameos for Star Wars: Episode VIII while they were there…
As we’ve previously reported, Princes William and Harry visited Pinewood Studios in London, and during their trip, photos of the two royals revealed that the A-Wing would be returning for Star Wars: Episode VIII. Now, thanks to a story from Sunday Express, Prince William and Prince Harry filmed a scene for Episode VIII. Here’s a description of their cameo, and warning: SPOILERS do abound…
"“The Princes dressed up in full Stormtrooper gear and filmed a scene in which Rey and Finn infiltrate a secret base. The rebel characters are in a lift with [Benicio] del Toro’s character when a group of Stormtroopers enter – two of whom are William and Harry.”"
Apparently, the two princes were told they were going to have lunch and a private tour of the Star Wars: Episode VIII set, but then director Rian Johnson came up to them and told them to follow him to the wardrobe department because it was time to suit up for their big cameo.
Although a spokesperson for the Royal Family would not confirm or deny the claim of Express’ source, they did say that the two Princes had a great time and were relaxed and friendly. The spokesperson called them “Genuine Star Wars Fans.”
However they did say: “The Princes had a great day showcasing the British talent behind Star Wars.” Why make that comment if there was no scene filmed with the Princes. Now, whether or not that scene makes it into the final cut, will be up to Rian Johnson and his team.
The Force Awakens had more than its fair share of star-studded cameos, highlighted by actors such as Simon Pegg (Unkar Plutt) and James Bond himself as Daniel Craig (the stormtrooper that Rey worked the Jedi Mind trick on). Perhaps Princes William and Harry will carry on the legacy of “British Talent” behind Star Wars, and maybe their scene will be saved for the bonus material when the film hits Blu-ray in 2018. We’ll see.
