Hot Topic and Her Universe have collaborated with the winners of last year’s Her Universe Fashion Show to create a new line of Star Wars fashions for female fans.
The new female clothing collection inspired by Star Wars: The Force Awakens is not your typical geeky t-shirt fare. We’re talking dresses, jackets, and even a cardigan fashioned after Rey’s Jakku scavenger outfit. The ultra chic aesthetic is a continuation of the standard set by Her Universe, the fangirl fashion company founded by the voice of Ahsoka Tano, Ashley Eckstein. Through the efforts of Eckstein and her team of designers, Her Universe has broken the boundaries of what fangirls could dream of wearing to express their fandom by releasing Star Wars-themed dresses, skirts, and leggings (and shirts, of course).
Hot Topic is also a purveyor of unique and fandom-themed outfits, making it and Her Universe the perfect match. The only other element needed was the winners of the Her Universe Fashion Show 2015: Kelly Cercone and Leetal Platt (you can view their winning fashions here).
Without further ado, below are the items from the new collection.
Phasma Jacket – $69.50-$78.50
Phasma Leggings – $29.50-$34.50
Finn Jacket – $69.50-$78.50

In the long run, none of the items are very expensive given their high style designs and attention to detail (see the faded patterns in the BB-8 and Stormtrooper dresses?). If you’re like me, a college student with a part time job, you might be able to afford one of two of the pieces.
I love all of these items, though I’m most drawn to the Finn and Phasma jackets and the BB-8 dress. What’s cool about the jackets is they can be worn out and about every day without broadcasting to the entire world that you’re a Star Wars fan; which, don’t get me wrong, that’s not a bad thing, but there are some situations where it’s either not appropriate or you just want to lay low. The jackets, the cardigan, and the leggings are perfect for running to the store, going to work or the gym, or hanging out with friends.
