It’s the first day of Star Wars Celebration and everything seems to be coming up Rogue One. As part of its panel, Hasbro officially revealed the first Rogue One Black Series collectible figure as Jyn Erso…

During the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story panel at Star War Celebration in London, Hasbro officially announced the first Rogue One character that would be joining the Black Series collectible figure toy-line, would be the heroine of the film — Jyn Erso — portrayed by Felicity Jones.

From the official release:

"“Jyn” will be represented across a variety of products – something fans will have to wait and see for themselves later this year, when all new “Rogue One” products launch globally at retail.”"

The Rogue One panel was hosted by Game of Thrones and The Force Awakens star, Gwendoline Christie, who is no stranger to being hailed as a strong female role model.

As Brienne of Tarth, Christie is a female warrior that can more than hold her own against larger and more powerful men, on Thrones. In The Force Awakens, and in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VIII, Christie plays Captain Phasma, the leader of the First Order’s Stormtroopers.

Jyn Erso is just the first of the Rogue One characters to get a Black Series collectible figure release, but be on the lookout for other characters from the film, the closer we get to the December worldwide theatrical release date.

Personally, I think it’s a fantastic idea to release the Jyn Erso figure first, as she’s the protagonist of the film. With Felicity Jones being a strong female lead in Rogue One, and Daisy Ridley being a strong female lead in The Force Awakens, young girls across the globe, can learn to love Star Wars through their very own role model’s collectible figures…just like the boys.
