The New Rogue One Trailer Described
At the Star Wars Celebration in London, a brand new Rogue One trailer was shown to the fans and media in attendance at the Rogue One panel, while those not there have to rely on word-of-mouth descriptions…
If you were expecting a brand new Rogue One trailer to hit the internet today, fresh off the Rogue One panel at the Star Wars Celebration, then you were probably sorely disappointed. Instead of a new trailer for the film, Disney/Lucasfilm showed those of us watching the live-stream from home, a Rogue One Celebration Reel.
Once the panel’s host, Gwendoline Christie (Captain Phasma from The Force Awakens) brought the event to a close, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy walked out on stage and told everyone in attendance to turn off their phones and recording devices, and the live-stream feed was cut.
What followed was an all new teaser trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, where Darth Vader himself made a cameo at the end. We’ve scoured the internet to get the descriptions from those lucky enough to be in the room, so we could describe the trailer for you:
H/T – Comicbook.com
The second Rogue One: A Star Wars trailer starts with Jyn Erso as a little girl running:
"“There’s not much time. Every day, we grow weaker, while they grow stronger.” “This is our last chance, to make a real difference.”"
As Felicity Jones narrates, there are various scenes shown of Rebels being brought to heel and the Empire’s taking control.
CB notes that there are new locations shown. One scene features an X-Wing flying over on a forested planet. Then scenes seem to happen in rapid succession:
- New aliens
- A new type of shuttle
- Deathtroopers
- The Death Star
And just like that, all of the sudden, the familiar breathing sound of Darth Vader can be heard. Vader is shown standing over a display unit. CB also notes that this is where the clip ends…Vader’s reflection on the control panel, more than likely on the Death Star, as his breathing continues to echo.
Sounds like a lot of fun; a lot of fun that those of us at home would have loved to have seen. It’s okay though, because there’s a reason Star Wars fans pay to attend the Star Wars Celebration, and sometimes there must be some exclusive content that only attendees get to see. Hopefully, Disney/Lucasfilm will release this trailer in the very near future.

There is a special on ABC this evening at 7PM CST titled Secrets of The Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey. If Disney wanted to air the new Rogue One trailer for the world to see, that would be the time to do it. Stay tuned to Dork Side of the Force, as we keep an eye out for that trailer.
