Have you ever wondered the real meaning behind the newest and most lovable droid in all the Star Wars galaxy? Did you really think that BB-8 was some simple astromech droid that just happened to be best friends with R2-D2 and C-3PO? Well, wonder no more, as this new theory may blow your mind! Well…not really…
YouTuber Jenny Nicholson recently uploaded a rather hilarious video to her YouTube page, positing a theory that Star Wars: Episode VIII will be all about BB-8, or in other words, Star Wars: BB-8.
Nicholson’s theory is thus: Ben Solo, before becoming Kylo Ren, made seven humanoid robots that turned out to become the Knights of Ren, but his eighth droid was an astromech, which he named BB-8 (Ben Bot Eight). Check it out, and enjoy the cuteness.
In all seriousness, while this video is delightfully hilarious and cute beyond measure, Nicholson does make some very interesting points.
- What makes BB-8 so special?
- Why is he allowed to hang around Artoo and Threepio, when literally no other droids do?
- If Ben Solo does on fact emulate his grandfather Anakin Skywalker (Darth Vader) then he possibly would have created his own droids, and BB-8 may have been his own creation.
- This would explain why BB-8 would be allowed full access to the Resistance base. Why he is so important to everyone in the Resistance. And, why R2-D2 and C-3PO instantly recognize who he is.
All in all, this was a fun video, and obviously not to be taken seriously, but sometimes, there can be a little bit of truth found in levity.
