General Leia herself, Carrie Fisher, may have a much larger role in Star Wars: Episode VIII than it was originally thought, as addition photography for the film gets underway…

Despite the fact that Star Wars: Episode VIII officially wrapped filming in June of this year, many reports, from the cast themselves, would suggest that Rian Johnson’s sequel to The Force Awakens has begun addition shooting.

We know that Lupita Nyong’o has just finished filming scenes for her motion capture role as Maz Kanata, something she confirmed on The Ellen DeGeneres Showand now we have an Instagram post suggesting that Carrie Fisher (General Leia) had to leave a convention early, due to extended, or additional filming for Star Wars: Episode VIII.

Here’s the post from New York Comic-Con’s official Instagram site:

"We’re sorry to announce that due to #StarWarsproduction, Carrie Fisher will only be at #NYCC on Sunday."

This could mean that Fisher’s role as General Leia in Star Wars: Episode VIII could be expanding to something larger than we originally thought. With the death of her husband, Han Solo, at the hands of their son, Kylo Ren, nee Ben Solo, it’s not that much of a stretch to imagine that Leia will have a lot to do in Episode VIII.
