Mark Hamill discusses Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Actor Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) briefly discusses, and reacts, to the news that Star Wars: The Last Jedi was Episode VIII’s official title…
Now that we’ve all had a couple of days to settle in with the official title for Star Wars: Episode VIII being The Last Jedi, Star Wars fans across the globe have been speculating away on what the title might mean. Will Luke Skywalker die in the film? Who is the last Jedi? When will we see the first trailer for The Last Jedi? Oh, and don’t forget that nice little grammatical clue: The word Jedi is both singular and plural!
Luke Skywalker himself, actor Mark Hamill, spoke to the Associated Press briefly about the film and had a nice little reaction to the news that Lucasfilm had announced the title, as well. Check it out:
"“He told me that when we were making the movie and I said, ‘don’t tell me these things, I talk in my sleep.’ I was so jacked up with paranoia over leaks…but that’s the way of the world.”"
Hamill continues on to say that back when he was portraying Luke Skywalker in the original film — Star Wars: A New Hope — nobody cared about leaks. He was then asked about his own reaction to the title, to which he replied that it had a real Samurai feeling to it, calling it “straightforward and minimalist.”
