Potential Concept Art For Unfinished Star Wars Horror Game Revealed

A concept artist who worked with Lucasfilm released what looks like concept art for an unfinished, horror-inspired Star Wars game on Instagram.

Star Wars was on its way to a terrifying place with Carlos Huante’s video game concept art (via Gamezone).

Carlos Huante worked with Lucasfilm as a Character Designer as well as with famous film directors like Steven Spielberg and Ridley Scott. During his stint at Lucasfilm, apparently, he drew concept art for a video game which was never made. Some fans might consider the project’s termination a shame when they see the art Huante produced.

The art features stormtroopers, but not the stormtroopers we’re used to seeing. These are mercenary-like soldiers, some with strange growths protruding from various parts of their bodies. Their armor is reconstructed to accommodate those growths, which Cade Onder of Gamezone suspects are mutations.

The source of this mutation? Huante’s art suggests the source is an alien species straight out of something like Stranger Things or Alien.

If the stormtroopers’ mutations are the result of an infection or invasion by an alien species, then the story is similar to Death Troopers, a Legends novel by Joe Schreiber. In Death Troopers, a prison barge called The Purge comes into contact with a horrific disease. The source of the disease, a derelict Star Destroyer, is populated by zombies which infect others with the contagion that made them the way they are. It’s possible the video game Huantes was working on is inspired by Death Troopers, except instead of zombies it’s about aliens.

The unfinished video game could also have drawn inspiration from the Yuuzhan Vong, an alien species from the post-Return of the Jedi Legends stories. These creatures developed the ability to biologically reshape organisms.
