Darth Vader rampages his way through rebel forces in this Rogue One / A New Hope mashup

Without a doubt, one of the best scenes in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, was Darth Vader’s rampage through the rebel forces at the end of the film…

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story comes home on Digital HD on March 24, and Blu-Ray/DVD on April 4. When the happy day arrives, Star Wars fans around the globe will once again relive that terrifying awesome moment of Darth Vader brutally carving his way through Rebel forces, in what is one of the best scenes in the film.

Since Rogue One is a prequel to A New Hope, and since the film ends where the original 1977Star Wars film begins, it makes sense that Darth Vader — who literally watched Princess Leia’s ship the Tantive IV leave the airlock of the Rebel ship the Profundity — would continue his pursuit and assault on the rebels in order to retrieve the stolen Death Star plans.

Now, thanks to Vimeo user Barre Fong, we don’t have to imagine what that would be like. We can watch all the action unfold in this Rogue One / A New Hope mashup. Check it out:

Fong does an awesome job of nearly seamlessly mashing these two films together. And, I must admit, that Darth Vader slicing and dicing his way through the rebel forces aboard the Profundity in Rogue One still sends chills up and down my spine.

Then, of course, one must compare Darth Vader’s fluid brutality in Rogue One (actors Spencer Wilding and Daniel Naprous), to David Prowse’s nearly clumsy Vader in A New Hope. Although, this isn’t really a fair comparison since Vader’s only real lightsaber action in A New Hope is in his duel with Obi-Wan.

One neat little sidenote: C-3PO actor (Anthony Daniels) portrayed his character in both films, as did James Earl Jones with his voice for Darth Vader.
