Last season, the Freemakers discovered that their youngest sibling, Rowan has a connection to the Force. After defeating an Inquisitor and casting away the coveted kyber saber – the most powerful lightsaber in the galaxy – to keep it out of evil hands, Rowan joined the Rebel Alliance with his older brother and sister.

In season 2, the Freemakers have new enemies as well as new friends. Bent on revenge, Emperor Palpatine tasks a homicidal droid equipped with lightsabers to track down Rowan and… capture him? Kill him? It’s not clear what exactly the Emperor has in mind for the young Force user. But the droid, M-0C, will have a hard time getting to Rowan with Kordi, Zander, and the Force on the boy’s side. In addition to his family members, Rowan also has friends in Hera Syndulla and Quarrie. The latter are two original characters from the Star Wars Rebels animated series.

The Freemaker Adventures is probably not canon since so many of its gags are totally divorced from the seriousness of characters like Palpatine and Vader in the films. You won’t find Palpatine forgetting the name of one of his direst enemies and being corrected by his apprentice in any of the saga films. But the show is funny, and its LEGO aesthetic makes it appealing to both kids and adults. To that end, it’s a good show for kids who want to watch something more lighthearted than Star Wars Rebels.
