Although he was introduced 30 years ago, we still know very little about Grand Admiral Thrawn. But all of that is about to change.

Star Wars is extremely in-depth. Full of exciting places, beloved heroes, and devious villains, but the Star Wars universe has never given us anything like Grand Admiral Thrawn. Although we know a little about this great, war mastermind, we don’t know enough.

Thankfully, a novel has been written about the Grand Admiral. It’s called Thrawn and it was written by Timothy Zahn, who recently spoke with StarWars.com. Here’s what he had to say about the Imperial leader.

"At the time, he was so different from anybody you’d seen. Most of the Imperials [at that time] were gloating semi-incompetents or gloating incompetents, or just plain scary like Vader and the Emperor. You’d not seen one who outthought his opponents, who brought that cerebral, tactical, strategic plan."

If you’re like me, you wonder what goes on in Thrawn’s mind. Well, let’s allow Timothy Zahn to speak a little on that.

"Not much different than getting into his head any other time I’ve written him. He’s the same character. It’s the landscape around him — physical, political, and military — that changes. It was simply a matter of getting as much information of what he does and how he acts on Rebels."

I, honestly, can’t wait to my hands on this book. Thrawn is a character whom I must know more about. The way he talks, the way he walks, the way he handles his business is second to none. But I think my favorite thing about him is how completely calm he is.

Even during times of battle and interrogation, he remains calm. That brings a certain coldness to him that no one else has. He’s nothing like I’ve ever seen before. To read the full interview with author Timothy Zahn, click here (StarWars.com).
