Hasbro Black Series figures revealed at SWCO include Thrawn, Jaina Solo and more

At Star Wars Celebration Orlando, Hasbro revealed a new line of 6-inch Black Series figures which includes Grand Admiral Thrawn and Jaina Solo.

Some of the coolest merchandise to come out of Star Wars Celebration Orlando is Hasbro’s new line of 6-inch Black Series figures. Two of the figures in the line are San Diego Comic-Con exclusives, while two others will be available in stores everywhere fall 2017. Two more figures will be Toys “R” Us and Game Stop exclusives in the summer and fall 2017, respectively.

What’s remarkable about the new Black Series line is it contains two Legends characters. Thrawn was originally created in 1991 in the first book in Timothy Zahn’s Heir to the Empire trilogy. He recently came into official canon through the animated Star Wars Rebels television series’ third season. Jaina Solo remains a Legends character, but a beloved one. She won last year’s Black Series Fan Figure Vote, in which Star Wars fans could vote for any character from Star Wars lore to be made into a Black Series action figure. Jaina will finally hit store shelves this fall.

The other new Black Series figures are a mixture of famous faces and background characters from the films and canon books. Luke Skywalker and his Tatooine landspeeder and Tarkin are the most familiar characters, followed by Commander Gree from Revenge of the Sith. The last figure is an Imperial pilot from the Inferno Squad, a new group of elite Imperial soldiers in Battlefront II and an upcoming novel by Christie Golden.

Since Thrawn is one of my favorite characters, I would love to have his Black Series figure on my shelf. He will be likely available in stores sometime after SDCC this summer. The Jaina Solo figure is also a great collection addition for Legends fans. But I have to say, that landspeeder looks the most fun to play with because it opens up. I love toys with nifty hideyholes and things to push and flip.
