Cassian Andor and K-2SO were some of the most popular new characters introduced in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and now they’re getting their own comic!
StarWars.com has announced today, May 19, that a Rogue One prequel comic featuring Cassian Andor and K-2SO will be hitting comic book shelves in August. The comic will explore how Cassian — a top intelligence officer in the Rebellion, meets a reprogrammed Imperial security droid named Kaytoo.
The comic will be a 40-page one-shot and will be written by Duane Swierczynski with artwork by Fernando Blanco. And, although it was hinted in Rogue One that Kaytoo was reprogrammed by Cassian, perhaps there is way more to the sarcastic yet lovable droid’s backstory, and how he was freed from the Empire’s restraining bolts.

In Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Cassian, and Kaytoo accompany Jyn Erso as she goes to Jedha to find Bodhi Rook, an Imperial pilot who defected to the Rebellion with a special message for Jyn. A Message, that included the secret weakness he had placed in the Death Star.
There is so much backstory to tell with both these characters, that it makes perfect sense for Marvel Star Wars to do a one-off comic about them.
Was Cassian always willing to do whatever it took to defeat the Empire? How did he come into the company of such a witty and sarcastic droid like Kaytoo, and was it Cassian that reprogrammed him, or did someone else do it?
These stories are all very exciting and will be available in August when Cassian & K-2SO will hit comic book stores everywhere.
