Lucasfilm rightfully tasks Jon Favreau to write a Star Wars live-action series
Disney/Lucasfilm tasks Jon Faverue for a live-action Star Wars TV series, which is a fantastic move by Bob Iger and Katleen Kennedy.
The Star Wars universe, and family, keeps growing, with actor/director/writer Jon Faverue joining the Lucasfilm family. Lucasfilm announced this morning via StarWars.com that the veteran filmmaker will write and produce an upcoming Star Wars live-action TV series.
Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy expressed her excitement of the newest addition to the Star Wars filmmaker collection:
"“I couldn’t be more excited about Jon coming on board to produce and write for the new direct-to-consumer platform.”"
Favreau: “If you told me at 11 years old that I would be getting to tell stories in the Star Wars universe, I wouldn’t have believed you.”
Same here, Kathy. Same here. Selecting Favreau is another brilliant move by Kathleen Kennedy, who proves once again why she was tasked with taking over Lucasfilm once the Maker George Lucas retired nearly six years ago — has it really been that long?
It’s unknown at this time which Star Wars project Favreau will take on, but we know the story will be a quality one if you look at his resume — as an actor, director, and producer.

My favorite movie he’s in is the cult classic The Replacements, starring Keanu Reeves. Even though the film is a far cry from an Oscar-worthy film, he has one of the most epic moments in the entire movie — displaying his diversity and proves that he’s able to take on any genre of films or television.
GET ME THE BALL!
If you want someone with Star Wars experience, he’s your guy — a (voice) actor in the highly acclaimed Star Wars: The Clone Wars as Pre “freaking” Vizla. After his performance as the Mandalorian Death Watch leader, I’m 100 percent sold on Favreau’s creation of a Star Wars story.
Plus, we know he’s able to generate the fun-factor in the Marvel genre of films, which is a seamless transition into a galaxy far, far away — while adding depth to characters, as well. Favreau’s also playing a minor role in the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars story film.
Which Star Wars TV show would be the right fit for Favreau? A bounty hunter story featuring Boba Fett would be my top choice and right up his alley. Favreau could even tap back into his Mandalorian self and explore Fett’s connection to that very warrior clan. Or, even taking on a Luke Skywalker and Ben Solo adventures story would be loads of fun — we even have the perfect actors for both roles.
