All of the likes, loves, and hates of the Han Solo origin story we never knew we wanted in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Let me start by posing the most obvious question we all had when we heard a Han Solo origin story was being produced: is this something we really need? I think the obvious answer is still no. However, that does not mean that Solo: A Star Wars Story wasn’t a fun exercise in fan service.

The cast is charming, the action sequences delivered, and as a whole, the movie was a fun jump back into that galaxy far, far away.

So now that we’ve seen and processed it, here are a few of the things we love and hate from Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Love: Classic Han Solo moments

If you’re a true fan of the franchise, especially the Original Trilogy, then you know what a Han Solo moment is. It’s one of those moments where Han is so sure of himself and the stunt he’s about to pull, you know it’s bound to go south only for Han to miraculously pull it off at the last second. It’s the good old Solo luck.

Whether it’s getting the Land speeder wedged between the two buildings, or Lando taking off in the Falcon after Han makes a threat he can’t deliver on, these moments capture the essence of the character we’ve loved for forty plus years.
