There is a rumor floating around out there in the Star Wars universe that we might be seeing more of the charismatic Lando Calrissian in Star Wars: Episode IX…
Wild rumors are always circulating in the Star Wars universe. Honestly, it’s what is going to keep us all occupied for the next several months until we get new content, so I’m always happy to speculate and discuss them – especially ones concerning Star Wars: Episode IX.

One of the more recent rumors is that actor Billy Dee Williams will be reprising his role as Lando Calrissian in Star Wars Episode IX.

This news comes on the heels of Donald Glover’s performance as Lando Calrissian in Solo: A Star Wars Story – a performance of which I’m sure Billy Dee Williams is proud. So, Lando Calrissian is fresh in our mind and I’m sure that we are all hungry for more.
Though this is just a rumor at this point, I could definitely see JJ Abrams doing something like this for Star Wars: Episode IX. Whatever complaints there were about Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we have to admit that JJ Abrams did a great job with fanservice. There were so many fun, nostalgic moments in that film.
With fans frustrated about the transition from a more traditional Star Wars, perhaps JJ Abrams is bringing Billy Dee Williams back as Lando Calrissian as a nod to the old, while still moving forward with the new.
We shall see if this rumor comes to fruition, but I would certainly love to see Billy Dee Williams back in his role as Lando Calrissian. Hopefully, we’ll see him back on his old ship, the Millenium Falcon.
