There’s Not Enough Padmé In Our Lives, and Thrawn: Alliances Will Fix That

Until now, Padmé Amidala lovers weren’t sure if their favorite character would make an appearance in new Star Wars canon materials – anytime soon or ever. The release of Thrawn: Alliances changes everything.

She was once Naboo’s queen and senator. Anakin’s lover. Luke and Leia’s mom, forced to leave her children far too soon.

After Episode III, we met her again in the first Star Wars animated series that aired on Cartoon Network. But it premiered 10 years ago and ended in 2015. The past few years have been filled with little more than rumors and silence.

More from Star Wars Books

Since the end of The Clone Wars, there just hasn’t been enough of Padmé Amidala. Until recently, we weren’t sure if or when she’d appear in new Star Wars canon out

side of the animated miniseries Forces of Destiny.

Now, all our dreams are finally coming true. We’ll reunite with Padmé again much sooner than expected.

Starwars.com officially announced on July 11 that Timothy Zahn’s upcoming novel Thrawn: Alliances – a sequel to the book that began the canonized origin story of the title character – will include an unexpected appearance from the former Naboo politician.

This news came with two exciting additions to hype up the book’s July 24 release: New artwork and a second excerpt, both featuring Anakin Skywalker’s forbidden love interest.

The excerpt, written from her point of view, invites us into her head once again – hopefully not for the last time.

Next: What we would like to see from Star Wars: Thrawn: Alliances

The artwork, featuring Padmé on the planet Batuu, will only be available as a poster included exclusively with the Barnes & Noble edition of the novel.

Zahn’s novel will bring Thrawn, Anakin, and Padmé together as they take on a mission none of them can refuse.

Thrawn: Alliances is set to release on July 24, 2018.
