Star Wars: Episode IX: If Richard E. Grant isn’t Thrawn what about Snoke?
By Callum Gunn
Who Richard E. Grant will appear as in Star Wars: Episode IX is up for much debate with the majority thinking Grand Admiral Thrawn, but what about Supreme Leader Snoke?
So hear me out on this one, I haven’t gone all daft or anything but let’s look at the possibility of Richard E. Grant appearing as Supreme Leader Snoke in Star Wars: Episode IX rather than Grand Admiral Thrawn.
The leading theory is Richard E. Grant will appear as Thrawn in Star Wars: Episode IX; something that we have discussed at Dork Side. There is plenty of evidence to suggest that this will be the case and it’s not hard to see why this is the leading theory.

However, we could all be looking in completely the wrong direction as all the indicators pointing at him playing Thrawn can also point at him playing Snoke. Now, this isn’t a Snoke didn’t really die in The Last Jedi sort of thing. He did, he is gone, done and dusted.
This is Grant will come in as a younger Snoke, a.k.a we are going to get some of the backstory and the answers we were hoping for in The Last Jedi in Star Wars: Episode IX. Flashbacks scenes have been hinted at before so it is certainly not out of the realms of impossibilities.

The leaked artist concepts and casting call that have been connected to Grant calls for a massive transformation to be made. That transformation has been assumed as him being turned into Thrawn, but it could easily be Snoke considering the dirty great big scar across his face.
How Grant looks likes Thrawn has also been suggested as a big sign he will play the character, but we could easily say the same with Snoke. He does resemble Thrawn more but with a bit of imagination, I can picture him as Snoke as well.

So it is entirely possible that we have all jumped the gun and instead of Thrawn, he will be Snoke in Star Wars: Episode IX.
