11. Lando Calrissian – Solo: A Star Wars Story
Ok, so same deal as with Chewbacca, we are going to be discussing Lando Calrissian and his introduction in Solo: A Star Wars Story a little differently than the other characters. This will be a spoiler-free part of the post, just like in the previous slide. So rather than discussing the details surrounding the introduction of the character, we will only focus on why it is worthy enough to make the list of best character introductions.
Played by Danny Glover, Lando in Solo: A Star Wars Story is this first time the scoundrel appears in the Star Wars universe. Presuming you view it from a timeline perspective rather than when the movie was released.
Now because we already know quite a bit about Lando from the original Star Wars trilogy, which is set after Solo, there was a lot of hype and a lot of expectation surrounding how he would be introduced in the movie.
More: Solo is no longer the worst, you just need to ignore a few details
Many were worried the character would not be portrayed well, either by the writing or by Glover’s acting. Thankfully, none of that happened, and Glover pretty much went above and beyond all of our expectations.
We expected this, smooth-talking smuggler. What you got was that and more; much more.
This is a Lando that you can easily see becoming Billy Dee Williams character in the future installments of Star Wars. There was no letdown, no disappointment. Lando and his introduction in Solo: A Star Wars Story is exactly what you always wanted to see when meeting Lando for the very first time.
