It’s easy to watch Solo: A Star Wars Story and see the fledgling relationship with Solo and Qi’Ra and decipher ways it molded him into the man we met A New Hope. With Solo officially available in Digital HD (and Blu-Ray on September 25), we consider the beginning of their friendship. LucasFilm sent over concept art for Han and Chewbacca, which certainly tells a lot about them and their bond.

In the four-panel image, we see Han and Chewbacca in various situations. First, what looks to be Chewbacca trying to escape with Han reaching out from the Millennium Falcon for his friend. There’s no way Han can lift his friend, but that doesn’t stop the two from reaching out to each other in a warm way, showing how much they need each other.

Then, there is a Chewie being held back while he is yelling at an Ewok. It’s a funny scene with Han being the cooler head in this moment.

The third panel shows a very fluffy Chewbacca and Han in the Millennium Falcon cockpit. Two friends giving each other a knowing look. It’s not one of anger, but kind of whimsical between the two.

And while Han and Chewbacca have been through plenty of great and funny moments, they are also hard moments too. The fourth panel depicts the two flying through the air after escaping their prison. You can still see the chain around their ankles while Imperial troops shoot at them during their escape.
