5 characters named after members of the Lucasfilm family

Star Wars is full of unique characters. It might surprise you that some of the characters were named after Lucasfilm family members.

Star Wars is full of characters with weird and wonderful names. However, did you know there are a bunch of characters named after members of the Lucasfilm family? Here’s just a short list of the obvious ones.

5. Cin Drallig

A background character from the prequel films, Cin Drallig was named after Nick Gillard, the stunt coordinator and swords master of the prequel films.

Drallig also had a small role in The Clone Wars series and was voiced by Robin Atkin Downes. The character was killed by Darth Vader during Revenge of the Sith.

4. Dexter Jettster

The first of two characters to be named after George Lucas’s son, Jett, Dexter Jettster was an old friend of Obi-Wan who pointed him in the direction of Kamino during Attack of the Clones.

Dexter’s information became valuable during Obi-Wan’s investigation into who wanted Padmé Amidala dead. Kenobi discovered the existence of the secret clone army they had been building in the name of the late Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas.

3. Zett Jukassa

The second character named after Jett Lucas is Zett Jukassa. Jukassa was a Jedi Padawan during the last years of the Republic.

The character was played by Jett Lucas in Attack of the Clones in a scene where he appears in the background. Lucas played the character again in Revenge of the Sith where he was killed by clone troopers.

2. Coleman Trebor

A short-lived Vurk Jedi from the planet Sembla, Trebor died during the opening minutes of the Battle of Geonosis.

The character was named after Rob Coleman, who once worked at Lucasfilm as an animator on the prequel films.

1. Mart Mattin

Our final character is Mart Mattin, the nephew of Phoenix Squadron leader Jun Sato. Mart was the son of Sato’s brother but used his mother’s maiden name.

Mart was named after Lucasfilm Story Group member and creative executive, Matt Martin.
