Star Wars: Episode IX rumor: BB8 to get sidekick that Battlefront 2 fans may recognize

Looks like BB8 is going to get a droid sidekick in Star Wars: Episode IX according to the latest rumor. A sidekick Battlefront 2 fans might recognize.
A wave of Star Wars: Episode IX rumors are emerging and this one is to do with that lovable little droid BB8 and his new sidekick. A sidekick that could be based on Battlefront 2. But as always, take this with a pinch of salt. It might happen, it might not.
So the Star Wars: Episode IX rumor comes via StarWarLeaks. The same source that provided the details suggesting Kylo Ren will have a Darth Maul type look. All of these details emerged during a Star Wars marketing presentation by Disney as they discussed what lies ahead for Star Wars in 2019.

When the presentation turned it’s attention to Star Wars: Episode IX a new droid was talked about. Going by the name of Dio, the new droid is being labeled as a sidekick to BB8. Described as a small droid with a cone-shaped head, like a megaphone. Further details about the droid were kept vague.
Some have fans have pointed out that Dio is the name of the droid from the Battlefront 2 campaign. However, the description doesn’t match up exactly. Pointing out that Dio does not have a cone-shaped head in the Battlefront 2 campaign.

So, we could be looking a completely new droid in Star Wars: Episode IX that happens to have the same name. Or, they are using a codename for the new droid so as to keep the actual name secret. Something that Star Wars has done plenty of times. Alternatively, it could be Dio from Battlefront 2, just redesigned for Star Wars: Episode IX.
