Fandom 250: Star Wars should see a huge jump in 2019

Star Wars may have fallen in the Fandom 250 rankings in 2018, but look for a major bounce back in next year’s list.

Star Wars has jumped around a bit in the Fandom 250. It ranked No. 2 in 2016, hit No. 5 overall in 2017 and dropped to the 19th spot in this year’s rankings.

While the fandom has seen a bit of a decline, there is no doubt in my mind it will jump back into the top 10 in 2019 – and with a chance at another top five spot.

There are so many things going for the franchise in 2019. First, the fans always make the franchise. They are amazing with their dedication and their love for the Star Wars series.

But the biggest thing happening in the movie world next is the completion of the Skywalker Saga with the release of Star Wars: Episode IX.

Despite some fan criticisms about the direction of The Last Jedi (the extreme cases didn’t help this year’s Fandom 250 ranking), this is going to be must-see viewing. If you’ve been a fan of Star Wars at any point in time, you’re going to want to know how it all ends.

And that happens in December of 2019.

Before that, there is so much happening for the Star Wars fan base that will certainly propel it near the top of the Fandom 250.

Next year is going to be amazing for Star Wars fans:
– Two new Star Wars theme parks, Galaxy’s Edge, will be opening in Disney World and Disneyland.
– The Mandalorian will debut on Disney+, the company upcoming streaming service.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ seventh season will air on Disney+

All the while this is happening, the untitled Cassian Andor series will begin production and Star Wars Resistance will continue to air on The Disney Channel. Nevermind all the books and comics that are planned for next year as well.

That’s a staggering amount of content for Star Wars fans culminating with Episode IX.

While Star Wars may have dropped all the way back to No. 19 this year, look for a huge bounce back in the Fandom 250 for 2019.
