With Billy Dee Williams joining the Star Wars sequel trilogy swan song, fans are wondering what his role will be? One thing is for sure, it will be good to see him on screen again.
When we last saw Lando Calrissian he had destroyed the second Death Star was enjoying the celebration with his fellow rebel alliance companions. Now, Calrissian is back in Star Wars.
With the untimely death of Carrie Fisher, it would have made sense to have Lando step into her role as Resistance leader. Fisher’s beloved character General Leia Organa will be in the film via cut-room footage.

Fresh off a solid performance from Donald Glover as Lando in Solo it seems the right thing to do is to bring back the original for one last go-round. So the question is what will his role be? Certainly more than a mere cameo.
Fans wonder if Lando will reunite with Chewbacca and perhaps have an adventure of sorts. Will Calrissian take down something of the First Order? That seems plausible.
I think it is safe to say that Lando will have a bigger part that Yoda’s Force ghost in The Last Jedi. Given J.J. Abrams quest to tie everything together it is a safe bet that Lando will play a big-ish part in that.
Here is hoping we get a shot of him in the teaser trailer when it is released. Just to geek out at an old friend long gone. It will be interesting to see what Star Wars:: Episode IX holds for Lando Calrissian.
Star Wars: Episode IX is scheduled to release December 20, 2019.
