Why Boba Fett is the most overrated Star Wars character

facebooktwitterreddit

I can honestly say I never got the love for Bounty Hunter Boba Fett. Sure he looks cool and like he could inflict some real damage. But taking a further look, Fett is simply overrated in Star Wars.

Star Wars fans had Boba Fett built up as some larger than life anti hero. Yet, much like his death — or supposed death — in the Sarlacc pit, Boba Fett was a pretty useless character even though he was hired to bring Han Solo to Jabba the Hutt. About the best thing Boba did was hide out in the asteroid belt and follow him to Cloud City.

It needs to be noted that Boba Fett did not capture Solo. He relied on Darth Vader to do that. For a character that did not have many speaking parts. He just sort of falls flat for this Star Wars fan.

For a supposed tough Bounty Hunter for him to fly on the sail barge and effectively have part of his blaster cut off by Luke Skywalker lends support to just how lame Fett is.

A hard core Bounty Hunter would have been prepared with other means of attack. And then to be knocked off the barge by a sort of blind Han Solo drives home just how overrated Boba Fett is as a Star Wars character.

There have been some novels where fans get a slightly better version of the bounty hunter in Mandalorian armor — and some fans love Boba Fett. But for many, the movies are both king and cannon. Movie Boba Fett leaves a lot to be desired.

For a character that has such great promise Boba Fett misses the mark like a Stormtroopers shot.
