Star Wars rumors UPDATE: Rian Johnson still on at Star Wars
There is an unsubstantiated rumor milling about that Rian Johnson is out of his future Star Wars trilogy. Unconfirmed rumors abound tonight.
Update: The story was updated below with a tweet from Rian Johnson confirming he is still making a Star Wars trilogy.
Nothing good happens at night. I feel that way about Star Wars rumors too.
This time around, one rumor that is circulating is that Rian Johnson is supposedly no longer directing any future Star Wars movies, despite it being announced that he would helm a future trilogy.

White the unsubstantiated rumor comes from Super Bro Movies, we haven’t heard from anyone close to the situation that includes anyone from LucasFilm and even Johnson himself. The last time we actually heard from Johnson, he responded to a person on Twitter saying that it was still happening.
These kinds of rumors are weird.
In this case, it came from one person who stated they heard from “multiple sources.” Yet, others on Twitter have come out and disputed the rumor or don’t think it’s plausible.

Of course, anything can happen. But we will wait for official confirmation to believe anything.
There are many who would welcome the news considering the backlash Johnson faced after The Last Jedi. Johnson was harassed online — and considering some of the reactions tonight when the rumor emerged — that hasn’t quieted down either.
Beyond Episode IX, we don’t actually know anything about the future movies. Recently, we had confirmation that there is a trilogy coming from David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, the Game of Thrones EPs.
But even with all this, the only thing we are sure about is Episode IX’s release in December and the live-action TV series The Mandalorian is coming later this year on Disney+. We even have the Rogue One prequel series eventually coming.
Rumors have a way going crazy. It looks like this may be a case of that. We’ll see how this one plays out.
