During a preview of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge a new TIE Fighter was on display and at it looks as though it is from Star Wars: Episode IX.
Heads up. Before you go too far into the post. If you want to stay spoiler free then please don’t read any further as we talk about how a new TIE Fighter for Star Wars: Episode IX was accidentally revealed at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Whenever we get a new Star Wars movie, we always get a fresh new wave of vehicles. Whether it be from the Empire, First Order, Resistance, Rebels, etc, there is always something new because, you know, a) you need to keep things fresh and unique, and b) toy sales!

So it’s not surprising that Star Wars: Episode IX is going to featuring a new TIE Fighter. However, I don’t think the bosses over at Disney/Lucasfilm intended to reveal it during a preview for the Disneyland and Walt Disney World attraction Galaxy’s Edge.

It is being dubbed the “TIE Echelon,” and ABC News’ Clayton Sandell, who attended the preview, confirmed the TIE fighter was there, it is brand new, and we are going to see it in a new movie.
Now, unless Disney/Lucasfilm is getting way ahead of themselves in terms of planning, and are adding features to Galaxy’s Edge from movies that are to come after Episode IX, which seems very unlikely, I think it’s safe to say that we will see this new TIE Fighter at the end of the year.
It might feature in the trailer, whenever they decide to finally give us that, so we might see it in action earlier, but at the very latest, we will see it at the end of the year. An image of the new TIE Fighter is up on Reddit, you can check it out for yourself here.
No official confirmation has been given, so there is always the possibility this is not connected to Episode IX but that seems really unlike.
