Mark Hamill has revealed a fan favorite moment from Star Wars: The Last Jedi was, in fact, an unscripted and spontaneous moment.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi certainly split the fandom, but no matter what side of the dividing line you sit upon, everyone can pick out one or two moments from the movie that they will remember forever. One such moment, that has been brought up again and again as a fan favorite, has been revealed by Mark Hamill as being unscripted and spontaneous.

It occurred at the end of The Last Jedi, and it is a moment between Luke and Leia. A moment which was effectively Luke saying goodbye to Leia one final time. Knowing full well that what he was about to do, go head to head with Kylo Ren in order to give everyone a chance to escape, would cost him his life.
