14. Enfys Nest

Enfys Nest was someone we didn’t expect. In Solo, before the big reveal, we saw a character who caused problems for Beckett, Val and Solo. Yet, we didn’t know the intent or even what Enfys Nest looked like.

Then, we learned everything when she pulled off her mask and revealed a young woman who was leading a group of freedom fighters against the Empire. We allowed our biases to create assumptions on who Enfys Nest could be, which helped her as well.

Enfys Nest also knew how to take advantage of her age and appearance. In the Solo novelization, she met a young Jyn Erso and told her that if anyone ever underestimated her age to make them pay. Don’t worry, Jyn did that in spades.

Enfys Nest was also an inspiration – not just those around her but to everyone she met.

She took over the cloud riders when she was just 16. She didn’t allow her age to limit what she could do and even those that followed her didn’t allow it to be an issue.

Enfys Nest was one of the first early manifestations of the Rebellion as a connection to Saw Gerrera and others throughout the Galaxy. Enfys Nest inspired others for being a hero. She also used what she acquired for the greater good, never letting it go to waste.
