Star Wars Resistance: What can we expect from Season 2?
By Jacob Craig
Now that Star Wars Resistance Season 1 has ended, what kind of trouble will Kaz and the gang get themselves into next?
The first season of Star Wars Resistance managed to intrigue members of every age group in the Star Wars fandom, and received as much critical acclaim as any Star Wars animated show. The show just recently celebrated its first season finale, and by the end of the episode, the seeds to a whole new adventure had been planted.
Kaz, Neeku, and the rest of the quirky characters on the Colossus spent the latter half of the season battling against the First Order Stormtroopers that threatened to take over the station, and it seems they finally achieved that goal. However, the First Order is still more powerful than ever, and will likely pursue our heroes wherever they may go.
Launching themselves into space, we may not know just exactly where they will go until the first episode of Season 2. The possibilities are literally endless, but I would like to break down what seems to be guaranteed for the second chapter into this animated epic.
New Characters
STAR WARS RESISTANCE – “The Core Problem” – Poe and Kaz make an unsettling discovery and must evade the First Order when they are spotted by an enemy probe droid. This episode of “Star Wars Resistance” airs Sunday, Feb. 17 (10:00 – 10:30 P.M. EST) on Disney Channel. (Lucasfilm)
BUCKET, POE, KAZ, BB-8 YEAGER
Perhaps the most surprising aspect of Star Wars Resistance was how many characters we saw from the movies, and were voiced by the actual actors that played them. We saw BB-8 throughout most of the season, several guest appearances from Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron, General Leia (sadly not being able to be portrayed by the late, and always great Carrie Fisher), Gwendoline Christie’s Captain Phasma, and Domhnall Gleeson’s General Hux. On top of it, we even got a chance to meet new characters such as Liam McIntyre’s Commander Pyre, and Donald Faison’s Hype Fazon.
I would be willing to bet almost anything that we see appearances from even more movie characters. Finn, Rey, Chewbacca, and many more Resistance figureheads are likely to make some sort of cameo, and perhaps even characters such as Luke Skywalker before their demises.
Aside from who is already established, we are also probably going to see more brand new characters voiced by famous actors. On top of McIntyre and Faison, Elijah Wood and Jim Rash have also lent their voice talents to the show, and it is impossible to guess who may be next. Keep an ear open for your favorite actor’s voice, because we could be hearing literally anybody next season.
New Planets
UNSPECIFIED – AUGUST 14: Handout image provided by Disney Parks, Walt Disney Company Chairman and CEO Bob Iger announced at D23 EXPO 2015 that Star Wars-themed lands will be coming to Disneyland park in Anaheim, California and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida, creating Disney’s largest single-themed land expansions ever at 14-acres each. The attractions will transport guests to a never-before-seen planet, a remote trading port and one of the last stops before wild space where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life. These authentic lands will have two signature attractions including the ability to take the controls of one of the most recognizable ships in the galaxy, the Millennium Falcon, on a customized secret mission and an epic Star Wars adventure that puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle. Being launched into space doesn’t just open opportunities for new adventures, but to see new planets as well. So far, the only backdrop for the Colossus has been the ocean planet Castilon. However, now the possibilities are endless. We might get a chance to see planets that we would never see in live action, and quite possibly settings unique to Star Wars Resistance.
Aside from new planets, we may be able to see how these characters react to the places fans know and love from live-action movies. Tatooine, Dagobah, Kashyyyk, Jakku, and even Canto Bight are all viable options for new locations, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we got to see all of the above.
Tam and the First Order

It seems that the major twist for the end of this season was Tam aligning herself with the First Order, as she felt betrayed by Kaz and Yeager. Tam has been one of the main characters since the first episode, and with her in a different location on a different side of the war, it seems that we may be able to see the First Order from an inside perspective. I would not be surprised if we saw what the First Order is like through Tam’s eyes, and possibly watch her slowly realize the mistake that she made.
It is almost inevitable that Tam will reunite with Team Fireball, but will she meet them as a friend? Will she be forced to take up arms against the people that she knows so well, or will she change her mind and turn against Agent Tierny and whoever else she bonds with during her time with the enemy? Hopefully all of those questions will be answered in Season 2.
What are you looking forward to next season? Let me know in the comments!
